Where the African Bush Meets the Indian Ocean
Saadani is the only wildlife sanctuary in East Africa with an Indian Ocean beachfront. This 3-day safari offers a rare mix of savannah game drives and river boat adventures, all while staying just steps away from the white sands.
Morning: Depart from Zanzibar via a private boat or short flight directly to Saadani. Upon arrival, you will be met by our guide and transferred to your beach-side lodge for lunch.
Afternoon: Experience the famous Wami River boat safari. This is the best way to see massive hippos, crocodiles, and an incredible array of tropical birds including kingfishers and fish eagles. Return to the lodge for dinner overlooking the ocean.
Full Day: Head into the heart of the park. Saadani is home to elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and lions. It is also one of the few places where you might spot the rare Roosevelt Sable antelope. Enjoy a picnic lunch under the shade of an acacia tree. In the late afternoon, drive back along the coastline, watching for wildlife against the backdrop of the sea.
Morning: Embark on an early morning guided walking safari. Accompanied by an armed ranger, you will learn to track animals and discover the smaller wonders of the bush. After a late breakfast, enjoy some free time on the beach.
Afternoon: Transfer back to the airstrip or boat for your return journey to Zanzibar, arriving in time for dinner at your resort.
